Cat Flue Outbreak – Please Read

Dear Supporters,
We currently have an outbreak of cat flu at the Nelson SPCA. This is often a mild virus in healthy adult cats, but can affect young kittens, sick, weak or elderly cats more severely. Unfortunately, it is also very contagious to other cats.
Regrettably this means we have had to stop all cat movement while we nurse our cats back to health. This means we cannot accept new cats / kittens, and are not adopting out any cats / kittens until we are satisfied all our cats are healthy.
If you have recently adopted a cat or kitten from the SPCA and have any concerns regarding his/her health, please phone us at the Centre. We always provide advice and veterinary support for recent adoptions, but if possible please contact us before making a veterinary appointment.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. 😊
Symptoms are,Sneezing and coughing, regular licking of the nose, not eating, lethargic, watery eyes. pretty much what a cold symptom for humans are.
